  1. Agreeing with everyone else – ‘Vengeance Road’ has a fabulous cover. It’s busy, but it doesn’t overwhelm you, so you feel like you’re seeing something different every time. My second favourite cover would have to be ‘This Is Where It Ends’ – a snapshot of something so visceral like that is captivating and awe-inspiring.

    1. I’m with you. Of the choices above, those two are my favorites as well.
I think This Is Where It Ends ties in amazingly well with the subject matter and complements the story. It makes an impact but doesn’t turn the reader off. When I think of all of the different ways school shooting books can go cover-wise, I am so glad they chose to go here instead.
Vengeance Road will have an immediate audience that is attracted to it and won’t be disappointed when they open the book. Genre can be difficult to convey on a book cover and they did a fabulous job. It reminds me a little of the Leviathan trilogy book covers by Scott Westerfeld.

  2. I am not one for “busy” covers. I like “Hole in my Heart” because of the simplicity. The hole is there and the red symbolizes the heart. IMO, that’s all that needs to be said.

  3. I liked the cover “Hole in my heart” To me its simple yet powerful. The title expresses that this will be a story of a deep loss; of terribly missing someone!

  4. Vengeance Road is a beautiful cover and the most interesting. The pictures and the title wonderfully artistic. My second favorite is Hole in my Heart. Its stark title would catch my eye straight away on a bookshelf, making me want to pick up the book to see what it is about.

  5. Though it doesn’t appear as one of the August featured covers, I’m very partial to the cover of The Marriage of Opposites, Alice Hoffman’s August book.

    1. Hi Betty! Just make sure you’re signed into your account and if that still doesn’t work – give our support team a shout by clicking the Help button, they’ll be happy to look into it for you!

  6. I love Hole In My Heart. It’s just plain, not over bearing, nothing crazy or distracting. Just the title and author. I like simple

  7. This Is Where It Ends is definitely my strong favourite from these covers although I also liked Vengeance Road.
My current read Concentr8 has a very striking cover but the best I’ve seen recently are from Vaun Murphrey’s Weaver series.

  8. What a feast for the eyes! Thank you for sharing them with us. As an artist I can appreciate the work and thought that has gone into them. I particularly like “Vengeance Road”and “”The lLittle Redfish” they are so aesthetically pleasing. As for the book “This is where it ends” , it obvious a lot of thought has gone into this original cover, it really gets the message across about the subject of the book.

  9. I am intrigued with the cover of “This is Where it Ends”. Bold and dark with a burst of colour. Need to know more.

  10. I also love the cover for vengeance road – it really works, as it made me look closer and read the description – which in turn made me keen to read this even though it’s not a genre I’d usually choose.

  11. I am not a lover of ‘modern’ covers – Guaranteed to Bleed wouldn’t draw me in. I love the cover of This Is Where It Ends, nice and simple and makes me wonder what it’s about. Also I love the colours of The Little Red Fish and it would catch my eye, would like the font to be slightly different though to make it easier to read. Vengeance Road – yes yes yes, Hole In My Heart – no promise of anything inside.

  12. I like Vengeance Road ( and major kudos for guns on the cover of a YA title – that takes some guts) but I *love* Hole In My Heart. So simple and effective.

  13. Yay! Cover Love!! The cover of a book is so important and I’m glad that NetGalley is spotlighting some amazing ones!

I ADORE the cover of Alive by Scott Sigler (amazing book, btw) and Sweet by Emmy Laybourne (another really good one).

  14. I love the cover of “The Palest Ink” by Kate Bratt and it’s relevance to the story. I love the color and composition of the cover.

  15. I personally prefer simple. Hole in My Heart is stark, but it says everything and grabs me. I also like This is Where it Ends. I appreciate the suggestion of an explosive nature. If my review site weren’t booked all the way into October (with two NetGalley tomes already in queue), I’d request both.

  16. The cover I am LOVING this month is Before We Were Strangers by Renee Carlino. One may not know what it may have to do with the story but when I was reading, there’s this one scene that really goes in depth and the reader realizes it has a lot to do with the cover. I’m crushing hard on that cover and the story.

  17. My eyes are riveted to the cover of “Vengence Road,” by Erin Bowman. I can’t wait to read the ARC!
This book’s cover is perfectly designed to attract the eternally roving eye of a teenager which, as we all know, is difficult to please (especially boys). I found out through my years as a Media Specialist/Librarian that a great book cover is like a pineapple. It doesn’t matter how good the inside is if the outside isn’t attractive.

  18. I really like the cover of “Vengeance Road”, it really catches one with the fabulous artwork – it seems to require a few looks to get it all – I like that. I also like the cover of “Hole in my Heart” although I was too late to vote for it. Simple and when one reads the description of the book it just seems to fit so well, I mean what else is there to say that isn’t said in the title.

  19. I am so in love with two covers…not to mention how great the books were:
Some Like it Hot by Suzanne Enoch
Hannah and the Highlander by Sabrina York
Great covers to go with a great story!!

  20. Of all these covers, I feel like This is Where it Ends is my favorite. Hole in My Heart is another one that really stands out. The other ones don’t pop enough for me to draw my eye in a sea of covers, therefore I don’t know that I would pick them up unless I was looking for author or book specifically.

  21. Considering that the person who created the cover for Vengeance Road (Teagan White) are one of my favorite inspirations when it comes to graphic design… I’ll have to go with that cover. I’m horribly biased, I know. >: Can’t wait to read it!

  22. VENGEANCE ROAD by Erin Bowman shows, to me, that love and a little sunshine can seep through all the violence, even though vengeance could bring about or lead to a trail of tears and sorrow along the way. This cover gets my vote.

  23. “This is Where It Ends” is my favorite. None of the others really do it for me – I wouldn’t automatically gravitate to them, though “Vengeance Road” would catch my eye if I were a western book reader.
